I think some women DO get bulky, like you I can build pretty thick muscle. Of course its not common- but in the same way some men have a hard time bulking up. Hi. May I ask, I'm not sure if this theory is true or not but I noticed that I may have looked older because I am overweight at the moment and people say that I looked 3,4 years older than my age. Not sure whether I have that mature look or it's because I'm just fat :(. Generally speaking- being heavier does make you look older. Most people will notice that they will look significantly younger after losing a large amount of weight. This is a poor example but I remember MTV had a series called "I used to be fat"- the kids would drop 100 pounds or so in a summer (with a personal trainer EVERY day for hours) and look significantly different and usually more youthful. Hi, I'm really trying to lose weight, and it is proving difficult. For the past three weeks, i've been eating all natural foods, salads, fruits/veggies and drinking only water. I also go to the gym 6 days of the week. I finally lost 4 pounds, and I was so happy, and the next day I went to the gym, I weighed myself and I am back to my starting weight.. I feel like nothing is actually working. I never even gained weight before, with all the junk food/soda.. but why is it so hard for me to lose it?
I feel like there has to be something wrong here- either with your diet or your body. Salads like cesar etc are really not healthy, and also if youre not balancing your meals then your body can actually hold on to weight. And your metabolism naturally changes as you age, if your diet really is sound then id get your thyroid checked or speak to your doctor- there could be some underlying medical issues with your thyroid, pancreas, insulin levels etc. Seems like we all gain weight in college! That is my problem right now. I get so busy with school that I just eat whatever so I'm not hungry and can get back to what I'm doing. I really love when you do these fitness/weightloss videos. I dont do as much as other people since I do HIIT but an hour and a half is completely overkill unless youre just one of those long distance runners and thats your thing. But from a weight loss stand point any cardio over 1 hour is too much. I would really just look at your diet and what you can improve since my guess is thats where your problem is What kind of cardio are you doing? That may give me some insight too, but no I dont recommend any more cardio as thats already too much.
You should give barre classes a try, since you have a ballet background. The classes make you long and lean. Love your videos!!! :).

Hey jackie! Do you use protein shakes? I want to start using them with exercise to lose weight and tone up but I'm not sure how to use them and whether or not they wil bulk me up. Do you have advice for a noob like me? No I dont- thats mostly for men who use to gain mass and some women use them as meal replacements but I dont recommend doing that. I know I personally would never get full off a protein shake. Haha. Hi tahreem, there are stores that exist that sell second hand gym equipment. Maybe check that out :)? Or even buy it from Costco- they have a pretty good policy for all their equipment. My friends, family and I use protien shakes. You have to pick one out that leans more towards women (ex. lean shake). It's low in calorie for the amount of protien that's in it. It's a myth that you'll get "bulky", it's basically eating a piece of chicken but easier to make and a lot of flavor options!! Also, don't be afraid to lift weights. The more muscle that you're body has, the more calories you burn in a day to day basis. I learned this from research and friends who major in nutrition.I DO think that many women dont get enough protein- but there are some that get too much in the never ending quest to get lean. And some women do bulk up- usually the ones who have a slower metabolism to begin with. Bringing in TOO much protein can be hard on the body (kidneys) and women dont need nearly as much as men do And honestly most women arent lifting hard enough to need something like supplements- the extra protein could really make them gain more weight if anything. But i agree that women shouldnt be afraid to lift, but I dont think most women need something like protein shakes. And I *personally* never could get full of of liquid food supplements anyway. Well completely may be impossible- I think people really underestimate the power of their genetics and overestimate the powers of diet and exercise. The only thing to slim it down really is cardio and a better diet as you cant target fat loss. I struggle with not eating carbs=weight gain :( what did you eat to cut off the carbs, Jackie? I really love your videos; they're really easy to relate to and helpful. Hi Yuuka Im a big carbs lover too! I think its important to not deny yourself anything- I still eat carbs just a smaller amount. I try to fill up on things like veggies and protein during the week and 3-4 meals on the weekend I really eat what I want. Having really unreasonable diets is what sets up most people to fail and binge eat. Also I'd try to learn what a true portion is- with yummy things like pasta its easy to eat your weight in the stuff LOL.

Its really give and take- yes youll probably lose on your bust but you either keep the bust and the fat or lose somewhere. I'd try leaning down and see what you would prefer- you may remain fuller in the bust area than you think. Squats will help you keep your butt- If you already have a butt you're probably genetically inclined to growing one- which makes it 10X easier. Its nearly impossible for people who arent inclined to have a "big" one.
I think weight gain is easyer in the usa due to food commonly having high sugar and fat content, europe isnt a big lover of high calorie meals so weight gain is harder. But i must say im tall and thin and i like my arms dainty like yours. But my butt is also flat :( yours is somthing i can only hope to have one day. Hugs.
No I definitely think the american diet is an unhealthy one- I think also in Europe (when I visited) everyone really enjoys their meals and takes time to enjoy life. Also the food and everything is so fresh. In the US everyone is always rushing from one thing to the next- so I think it encourages bad food choices :/ And if you do squats at the gym you can definitely improve its appearance! Even if youre not genetically inclined :).
Cardio -30 mins but I do HIIT Hot yoga is anywhere from 1-15 hours but some days i do two classes in a row And gym...with cardio takes maybe 90 mins. But thats because my ab exercises take 30 mins because im a baby and hate doing abs haha (and I dont have a very strong core so I have to take abs slow). Thanks for sharing your experiences. My legs are definitely one of my problem areas (thighs more than calves) but its mostly a genetics thing- pilates and yoga help a lot but you do have to have realistic expectations. You cant commit to a short term crash diet and expect long term results. You have to be committed to eating healthy and exercising regularly. When I was in school id just pack all my own lunches and snacks- that way I wouldnt waste money on the fatty food on campus.
